'Jane Bourvis' the most romantic shop in town.

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for all the comments! I am so glad you guys are enjoying the blog.

So, today I have some gorgeous pictures taken on a magical, amazing and one of my very favourite shops in town... I am a romantic at heart, you know!

Jane Bourvis, is located near Portobello Road and has been one of my favourite shops for many years. It's like a fairy tale, a wonderful cave, full of treasures from the past with amazing, truly inspiring fabrics. A quick visit there is enough to take you somewhere else, somewhere in past, in a beautiful Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco era.

Jane designs are the most amazing bespoke bridal dresses, totally made to measure, each piece being completely unique. She uses vintage fabrics, which have a lot of character. Sometimes the fabrics which can be over 80 years old, may have some small flaws due their age. Considering this, it's quite amazing the selection of vintage lace, embellishments and accessories. You can easily, so easily get spoiled for choice.

Let the pictures speak for themselves. I hope I was able to capture some of the magic of this boutique.

I am so excited to share this true gem with you guys!
Thanks so much to Jane who very kindly allowed me to do this deserved feature on her shop.

The sky is the limit! Reach higher with those wedges

Hi guys,

Today's outfit is full of flowers and girliness bringing the spring closer to us.

I am also wearing my new Zara wedges! I fell in love with those immediately. I haven't worn wedges in many years, let alone REALLY high ones like those. I could not help buying them because I thought they were fierce and they have a nice design to them too, reminding me of Jeffrey Campbell's type of style.

So, in a funny kind of way they started to tick many boxes for me, I loved the heel, the open toe and the lace up closure, but I just wasn't too sure about the colour. I suppose now it's kind of growing on me as it's different from black and sometimes is nice to have something contrasting. Fair enough, it took me a month to wear them out as I was actually a bit scared to walk on them! I used to wear platforms and high heels all the time when I was younger but I certainly lost that confidence and swing... Now I need to practice my walk asap. (smiles)

What do you think?

Teas - me

Hi guys,

I loved when I came across this cute, very cool, interesting and fun tea bags. Imagine how cute these would look around the table after a dinner party or just to lift any mood. If you love your tea time, you should give yourself the pleasure of having a cuppa with Karl Lagerfeld and Donatella Versace or would you go retro with Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe?

I found those on a German website and the trouble is I could not understand anything to share with you, apart from those adorable pictures. I love the names they have given to the sets too.

The interesting thing about this post is that I hate tea!
Still, when I came across these lovely tea bags, I wished I was a tea drinker.

I just loved the idea of they been 'seated' on the cup, isn't it cute?

Hello Kitty party magazine

Hello guys,

You all know that I LOVE Hello Kitty and I am a big collector too! Not so long ago, my jaw totally dropped when I saw the advertisement for Hello Kitty Party Magazine on the TV!
It's THE BEST MAGAZINE IN THE WORLD!!!
I wonder if anyone else is collecting?

Every issue consist of a fine, microwavable porcelain dish, accompanied by the cutest recipe books. It's an absolutely totally adorable collection! I just had to have.

This is how the complete collection will look like. I am sure, there is no kid or HK lover who will be able to resist this.

Issue number 1 was released with a dinner plate at a promotional price of £1.99! It was so hard to get hold of one. I spent 2 days running around town, went to about 30 newsagents to find one. Finally hurray, smiles, I managed to get one :) !
Issue 2 came out with a couple of mugs and issue number 3 with a lovely pasta bowl, all priced at £4.99 each.

So here, is my how my collection has been developing.

Dinner plate, issue 1.

Mugs and pasta bowl.

Next issue, will be cereal bowls. I believe there will be another 10 issues to complete the set. I was counting from the very first picture where I can see many of the plates have been repeated for demonstration purposes. I hope I am right because, I can't wait to have my own Hello Kitty tea + dinner party with my gorgeous collection completed!

See you soon.

Spring rock and roll

Hi guys,

I am so excited, finally the sun is shining again and it feels like the Spring is here!

This look is casual and rock chick at the same time. I have just bought this grey Gap sweatshirt on sale at Traid, a second hand shop, for only £3! I have not owned a sweatshirt since I was 14, strangely I decided to give it a go again. Now worn with modern accessories, not only jeans and trainers as I used to (as you do) when I was younger.
With this different take on it, the sweatshirt proved to be a fabulous friend for layering smartly.

Twice a year this charity shop Traid has a great sale, with daily price reductions. Everything normally starts at a fiver and then slowly but surely prices get reduced by a pound every couple of days. I got the top and the scarf and a few other bits £3 each, didn't go mad this time, because I do prefer their summer sale best.

Here is the look.

I also could not help buying this jacket from a girlfriend at work. I think it is gorgeous and it's made of the softest leather imaginable. This one will be worn to death this spring and beyond! My latest love and friend too.

Jesus Luz in 3D for Ellus

Hello guys,

Cool Brazilian label Ellus, launches it's new advertising campaign for it's Winter 2010 jeans and leather collections. Winter has never been so hot with steaming pictures all in 3D!

The hot couple featured is Jesus Luz (news last week were that he had just split up with Madonna) and gorgeous red haired model Cintia Dicker.

I would love to find out if the effect does work? Unfortunately, I do not have a pair of 3d glasses to try it out. So, any of you readers by any chance get to try it, please let me know what you saw.

A friend, a sketch.

Hello,

A friend of mine, just sent me an email which I loved and therefore I am sharing with you too. Being an old mate, she knew this would the perfect idea for me, a person who has always loved to design clothes and it's full of ideas but unfortunately is really bad at drawing.
The most frustrating thing is that I live with someone who draws really well and it's so disappointing when they tell you drawing it's easy.

Well, my life and frustrations are just about to change with this cool, lovely and practical sketch book called Fashionary.
This modern moleskin type of book has barely visible templates on each page, allowing designers and students to sketch out their ideas, trouble free, wherever they may be. Body measurements, pattern samples and catwalk schedules are just some of the useful reference tools also featured.

Marvelous concept, easy to display your ideas professionally, neatly and quickly. How fabulous!
I need one now!

Created by fashion/graphic designer Penter Yip and available at Esty for $16. Further info check www.fashionary.org
